Questions, answered

Do you really answer after hours?

Yes. NII Electrical runs a 24/7 line for genuine electrical emergencies, so call 0426 388 909 any time, day or night, weekends included. Emergencies include no power to the house, sparking, burning smells, water near electrics, or a safety switch that keeps tripping and won't reset. Patrick will talk you through staying safe on the phone first, then get to you as quickly as he can to make the site safe and find the cause. For non-urgent jobs, a quick call or a booking request means he can plan your visit properly.

What should I do while I wait?

If it's safe, switch off the main switch at your switchboard and keep everyone, kids and pets included, away from the problem area. Don't touch damaged cables, scorched fittings or anything wet, and don't keep resetting a safety switch that trips straight back off, because it's doing its job. If someone has been shocked, or there is smoke or fire, call 000 first. Once everyone is safe, give Patrick a call so he knows exactly what he's walking into.

Are you licensed and qualified?

Yes. NII Electrical Services Pty Ltd holds an NSW Fair Trading contractor licence, number 400645C. Patrick has a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, plus a Certificate II in Split Air-conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, a Diploma of Building and a Certificate IV in Building and Construction. That building background helps on renovations, because he understands how the electrical work fits around the rest of the project. Where it's required, completed work is tested and certified with the right compliance paperwork.

Which areas do you cover?

Patrick is based in Punchbowl (NSW 2196), in the heart of Canterbury-Bankstown, and works across Sydney. Recent hipages jobs include Homebush, Revesby, South Granville and Cronulla, and suburbs close to Punchbowl like Bankstown, Lakemba and Belmore are right on his doorstep. If your suburb isn't listed, no dramas. Just call or send a booking request and he'll tell you straight away whether he can get to you.

Do you offer same-day service?

Yes, whenever the schedule allows. Patrick knows electrical problems rarely wait for a convenient time, so he offers same-day visits for homes and businesses where he can. The earlier in the day you call, the better the chance of a same-day slot. For true emergencies, the 24/7 line is always the fastest option.

How do quotes work?

Tell Patrick what you need by phone or through the booking form. Photos of the switchboard or the problem area help a lot. For straightforward jobs he can often give you a price over the phone; for bigger work he'll inspect first so the quote is accurate. Either way, you'll get a clear price before any work starts, and if he finds something unexpected he'll talk to you before going ahead.

How do I know if my switchboard needs upgrading?

Common warning signs include old ceramic fuses, no safety switches (look for buttons marked TEST), breakers that trip often, flickering or dimming lights, and a board that feels warm, buzzes or shows scorch marks. Planning aircon, an induction cooktop, solar, a battery, an EV charger or a renovation is also a good reason to check capacity first. Some older meter boards contain asbestos, which Patrick will identify and make sure is handled safely. If you're not sure, send him a photo of your board and he'll tell you what he sees.

Are safety switches required?

The Australian Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000) require safety switch (RCD) protection on circuits in new electrical work, and generally when circuits are added or altered. Many older homes have none, or only one protecting the power points, which leaves lighting and other circuits unprotected. RCDs detect current leaking to earth, possibly through a person, and cut the power in a fraction of a second. For most older homes, adding RCDs is one of the most effective safety upgrades you can make, and Patrick can usually advise on it in a single visit.

Can I do small electrical jobs myself?

In NSW, electrical wiring work must be done by a licensed electrician. That includes replacing a power point, adding a light or touching the switchboard. DIY wiring is illegal, can be dangerous, and may affect your insurance if something goes wrong. Changing a light globe or resetting a tripped breaker is fine. Anything that's wired in is a job for a licensed sparky like Patrick.

Do you install appliances?

Yes. Patrick installs cooktops, ovens, stoves, rangehoods and dishwashers, plus ceiling fans and exhaust fans, and repairs electrical faults on hot water systems. Many hard-wired appliances need their own correctly sized circuit, and manufacturers often require a licensed installation to keep the warranty valid. Patrick checks the circuit, connects and tests everything, and makes sure it's safe before he leaves. Let him know the model when you book so he can confirm what's needed.

Do you work with real estate agents and strata?

Yes. NII Electrical provides electrical maintenance for real estate agencies, landlords, property managers and strata companies. That includes tenant callouts, smoke alarms, end-of-lease repairs, common-area lighting and switchboard upgrades. Patrick can liaise directly with tenants to arrange access and keeps you updated. Call to set up an account or send through your first job.

How can I pay?

Payment is by bank transfer. You'll receive a clear invoice once the job is done, showing what was completed. For larger projects, Patrick will explain the payment arrangements up front with your quote, so there are no surprises.

What is the business ABN?

NII Electrical Services Pty Ltd, ABN 32 667 810 933, GST registered since May 2023. The company holds NSW contractor licence 400645C. You're welcome to check both on the ABN Lookup and NSW Fair Trading websites before you book, and Patrick encourages it.
